This past Sunday I posted a short poem, which was layered on top of a photo of a window, see it here.
Had enough? I still have a few more in my files, but, I think if I post one more you'll all be ready to jump out the nearest window! Please don't! Instead, head over to Buffy's Blog for the Round-Up.
If I don't see you before next Wednesday, Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it and happy day off from work to those who don't!
Lovely haiga--I especially like: "first the shadow/then the cat"
ReplyDeleteThanks, Buffy!
ReplyDeleteOooh, the first one gave me shivers. But, I love the haiga, too - for the cats, and the way the poem understands cats. Happy holidays, Diane!
ReplyDeleteHappy holidays to you, too, Tara! Say hi to NJ for me.
DeleteDiane, you can write the words so well. I love the shadow one, and the blues, and the final one-bookends. You've inspired me to take photos of my window art, and try, try to write something good. Thank you, and Merry Christmas to you!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Linda! Please do take photos and learn to play with a free photo editing program like PicMonkey.com. It may change your life--it has mine.
DeleteThese poems are great! Such a treat to have the images, too. I think this would be a good exercise for my students. You continue to enrich my writing life. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteWindows will bring great possibilities to your students, Margaret. They can open out or close in, be looked through, or looked in, be smudged or squeaky clean, etc. You wouldn't even need a window with context--they could provide the context. Here's a great window for them to write about: http://www.loc.gov/pictures/resource/hhh.ca2447.photos.325479p/
DeleteDiane,
ReplyDeleteYou've introduced me to something new!!! I didn't know about haiga. I love these!!!! My favorite is the cat and the shadow.
Haiga forces you to work a bit differently and I enjoy combining words and images. I was never an artist, but photo manipulation allows me to feel like one.
DeleteI love your window as much as your doors!
ReplyDeleteI never realized how many window references I had in my poems and haiga until I took a tally. By the way, I love the photo of your 3 boys playing Monopoly in front of the tree.
DeleteWe see your soul through these windows... I don't believe for a moment that you haven't always been an "artist." My favorites: "first the shadow," "third day of rain," and "bookends."
ReplyDeleteToo deep, Michelle! ;-)
