October was my third time participating. For my postcard, I illustrate a haiku or small poem that I write for each person in my group of exchangees. There were only three people in my group this time so I only needed to create 3 art postcards. In April I used a bird theme, in July I used "endless summer heat." This time I made it even easier on myself by making my theme simply October.

What a cool variety! The first one is my favorite. Something about its simplicity really appeals to me, and the sort of bouncy sounds of the first two lines followed by the more somber closing line. Lots of clever moments in the other two!
ReplyDeleteOctober is infinitely varied. I think I've written more poems about October than any other month.
DeleteJust Done is right...I can't bear to think of this election any more, Diane...
ReplyDeleteKeep your fingers crossed that the anxiety ends Tuesday and does not continue for the next 4 years!
DeleteI can't choose a favorite, like each one for the different perspective. But "stick a fork in us" made me laugh! I don't know if I'll be "done" until after next Tuesday. Thanks Diane, your poetry project seems very neat.
ReplyDeleteIt is a fun project--right up my alley!
DeleteOh my. Not one, not two, but three perfect postcards with poems. You are so talented Diane, moving between Nature treated beautifully to political satire that a national publication would want to run. Wonderful post.
ReplyDeletePoetry has taught me that everything is fair game.
DeleteLovely! I especially like the first one.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Keri. Do you still have butterflies by you?
DeleteBeautiful. All of them. And so very different. Perfect.
ReplyDeleteThank you Dori.
DeleteYour postcards are varied and lovely, Diane. I show teachers how to create postcard poetry so I would love to share your first one. The second one is a real hoot but unfortunately he pre-election time has not been. The last one speaks to me on different levels-philosophical in its thought. Would you share some with my Autumnventure Gallery?
ReplyDeleteI'd be happy to share, Carol. And feel free to use the first one. That one is two PD illustrations put together and made to look aged (I think of it as being sepia-ized).
DeleteLove the variety of themes and tone in your postcards. We are all definitely done with this election!
ReplyDeleteOctober is very tony!
DeleteDone, done, done! Such great poems, varied and imaginative!
ReplyDeleteI try my best! ;-)
DeleteHow unboring! Love all three, but the top one is visual and word music.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Violet, I love comingle pictures and words.
DeleteYour three poems make three different yet profound statements. I want to be the person who survives this election, this winter, this overdone-ness. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWe will survive, the trick is to do it without permanent damage.
DeleteLook at you, Diane! Such range, such versatility! Your middle one made me laugh, the third one shy about its clever ending, but after the first I thought you were done--how perfect!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Heidi. The first one looks to be the winner of the popular vote, which only goes to prove, "less is more."
DeleteThe parallels between autumn and the election are depressingly clear. I guess I'll hold onto my belief in spring.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. Spring is my absolute favorite time of year.
DeleteThanks, Ruth!
ReplyDeleteNice variety, in both form & mood! I think the first is my favorite, though.
