Carol at Beyond Literacy Link will be rounding up the poetry links this week!

Next Friday, July 14, is National Macaroni and Cheese Day! Mac and cheese is one of my all-time favorite foods, so, I'm planning on having a mac and cheese poem ready to celebrate. How about you? Will you join the celebration, too? Have a great week!

  1. Hi Diane, these are wonderful! BTW do you like Edward Gorey's art and stories, your Katkus remind me of his work and sense of humor.

    1. Ha, ha--me and a sports metaphor is like oil and water.

  4. Every time all I want to say is "oh my goodness. . ." Diane, besides entertaining us, I hope you know how clever these are. Choosing the picture then crafting the words, like that final cat, I suspect we're only getting a glimpse of what you do. That middle one, child or cat!

    1. Cats and children are funny, you can see the wheels turning in their heads!

  5. I love these! How do you create the illustrations? I want to know! I see a collection in the works. Mopping up is my favorite....no true words were ever thought by my cat!

    1. Linda, I use PicMonkey to edit pictures (free, but has paid upgrades if you want them). It's taken me years to figure out what I'm doing, and even now, I'm surprised at how much I still learn by trial and error. However, there are plenty of YouTube videos that can explain things and save you years of time! If you have any specific questions, just let me know.

  7. What fun! I am sharing with my husband, who adores our cat (and she adores him). I love the wish to at least catch a glimpse... wonderful!

    1. My cat can see something walk across the backyard and then run to a window with a side yard view. I think she knows she may or may not catch a glimpse.

  8. I am hoping to join in on the mac and cheese celebration next week, too!

And I love the haiku about the vase...I know that all too well. A blur of fur, a crash and a smash!

    1. That would require a little effort! I'm averse to work that isn't inherently joyful.
