Wouldn't it be nice to have a real conversation with those women so long ago? "under no man's thumb" feels just right.
ReplyDeleteMary Bradish Titcomb never married, but she moved to the Boston area where she taught and then became an artist. She traveled. She participated in various artist colonies. I saw a photo where she is shown wearing an exotic costume. She definitely didn't strike me as the stereotypical old maid.
