shutters closed
decorum is simply
a part of growing old
that's what I tell myself
as I look for new ways
to conceal age's effects

Such a beautiful painting, and I love your take on it.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ruth!
DeleteI'm with you, Diane! My mother used to say that that woman in the mirror was a stranger! Your poem is so true and that painting is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteIt was quite sobering the first time I looked in the mirror and saw my grandmother!
DeleteThat woman in my mirror is more and more my mother! If I still FEEL the same, how can I possibly LOOK so different?!?!
ReplyDeleteI'm already 14 years older than my mother was when she died--think about that!
