This painting by Felix Vallotton, "Rocamadour Landscape," inspired a number of haiku for today, all of which share "May dawn":
May dawn
the chickens, too
on their own
the blanket folded
ready to be put away
...May dawn
who can sleep?
sun and wisteria
this May dawn
May dawn
even earlier than usual
the cat's meeoow

Nicely done. For me, this morning . . .
ReplyDeleteMay dawn
comes too soon
hit 'Snooze' again.
I can relate! I rarely see dawn.
DeleteLovely sequence!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jama!
DeleteDiane,
ReplyDeleteWould an ekphrastic haiku be an oxymoron?
Good question! ;-)
DeleteOh, I love all of them! What a brilliant idea to write haiku inspired by a painting.
ReplyDeleteThat painting is so full of color it brought forth many images--too much for one poem.
DeleteA dawn worth waking up to over and over again.
ReplyDeleteMay is my favorite month! Dawn, however, is not my favorite time of day.
DeleteLovely painting, lovely poems. It's remarkable how they can all feel so different even though those three-line poems share a common line.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Karin!
DeleteLove the way one led to the other, Diane.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tara.
DeleteGorgeous painting...those colors! I can see why it would inspire you in many directions.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like it. I came across the painting and I knew I had to use it!
DeleteBeautiful--I like the sun and wisteria one the best:>)
