"Les Tricoteuses" 1915 by Jacqueline Marval [1866-1932]
I am a cat
and cannot control
my innate impulses
humans knit in front
of me as if they expect
I won't go for the kill

Never trust the cat, so right. What an intriguing painting. Those who are pale seems as if they are the ancestors gone who passed on the knitting. Have a nice week, Diane!
Interesting interpretation, Linda! I saw it as the ones in white representing the good. And, the black cats and the women in red at the bottom (the direction of hell) representing the evil.
You must have been a cat in another life, Diane. Love this one!
Ha, ha! Thanks!
Ha! I love this. I got to visit France in 2019. My husband...after I dragged him from art gallery to art gallery finally started taking photos of dogs in paintings. So, then of course, I had to take pics of cats!
Linda, I'll bet the dogs were represented twice as often!
I just remembered I had written about dogs and cats in paintings a few years back. https://randomnoodling.blogspot.com/2013/03/poetry-friday-observations-of-manuels.html
